Symbols
A Chemical symbol is a notation of a letter or two letters which represents a chemical element. Chemical symbols of elements are usually represented using capital letters. If the chemical symbol of an element consists of two letters the first letter is usually written in capital letter an d the second letter is written in small letter.
Some elements derive their symbols from their first letters e.g Carbon (C), Boron(B), Nitrogen (N), Flourine (F), Iodine(I) e.t.c.
Some elements derive their symbols from the combination of two letters from its name e.g Zinc(Zn), Beryllium(He), Argon(Ar), Astatine (As), Magnesium (Mg), Manganese (Mn), Chromium (Cr) e.t.c.
Some elements derive their symbols from their latin name e.g Sodium (Na from Natrium), potassium (K from Kalium), Iron(Fe from Ferrum), Tungsten (W from Wolfram), Gold (Au from Aurum), Lead(Pb from Plumbum), Silver (Ag from Argentum), Tin(Sn from Stannum) etc
